In a move that has left Jett enthusiasts reeling, Riot Games is gearing up to implement significant nerfs to VALORANT’s most cherished duelist in the forthcoming competitive Act. But Jett isn’t the only one in the crosshairs—patch 7.04 is also taking aim at Skye and a whopping nine other agents.
This update is shaping up to be the most impactful meta shift since last year’s patch 5.12, which also brought a slew of nerfs.
Patch Objective: Game Clarity
Riot’s focus for Patch 7.04 is to enhance VALORANT’s game clarity. The developers aim to achieve this by “minimizing the frequency of large AoE ultimates, reducing the duration of active utility, and lowering the HP of shootable utility.”
Additionally, the costs of several ultimates have been adjusted to bring more balance to in-game fights.
Jett
- Tailwind (E): Dash window decreased from 12s to 7.5s, and activation windup increased from 0.75s to 1s.
- Cloudburst (C): Duration decreased from 4.5s to 2.5s.
- Updraft (Q): Charges decreased from 2 to 1.
- Blade Storm (X): Ultimate points increased from 7 to 8.
Skye
- Guiding Light (E): Max duration while casting reduced from 2.5s to 2s.
- Trailblazer (Q): HP reduced from 100 to 80.
- Seekers (X): Ultimate points increased from 7 to 8, and health decreased from 150 to 120.
- Aftershock (C): The number of ticks has been reduced from 3 to 2, but the damage per tick has been increased from 60 to 80.
- Rolling Thunder (X): The ultimate points required have been increased from 8 to 9.
- Orbital Strike (X): The ultimate points required have been increased from 7 to 8.
- Prowler (C): Time to re-equip the gun takes slightly longer after using the ability.
- Mosh Pit (C): The impacted area now does 10 damage per second before exploding.
- Wingman (Q): HP reduced from 100 to 80.
- Thrash (X): The explosion effect has been updated for better visibility and understanding.
- Lockdown (X): The ultimate points required have been increased from 8 to 9.
- Paranoia (Q): No movement velocity is imparted when casting the ability.
- Gravity Well (C): Startup time increased from 0.6 to 1.25 seconds, and gravity time duration decreased from 2.75 to 2.0 seconds.
- Nova Pulse (Q): Startup time decreased from 1.25 to 1.0 seconds.
- Cosmic Divide (X): Audio is now completely blocked by the wall.
- Recon Bolt (E): Total number of scans reduced from 3 to 2.
- Viper’s Pit (X): Ultimate points increased from 8 to 9.
All of these changes aim to balance the game by adjusting the heroes’ abilities and ultimates. The impact on the game meta is not yet certain.
