VCT 2022 North America Stage 1 Challengers week 3 is ready to bring an action-packed weekend for the VALORANT fans. After the crazy moves during the week, the matchups are becoming all the more interesting.
100 Thieves will make its first appearance with two new names in the roster, The Guard will try to protect its win streak, while the Sentinels face a major test.
Let’s take a look at the core matches this weekend.
New 100T roster tested against Luminosity
100 Thieves caused a pure chaos in the scene after the roster changes it made. Following the two losses against The Guard and Cloud9 at VCT 2022 North America Stage 1 Challengers, 100 Thieves announced the departure of Hunter “Babyj” Schline and Adam “ec1s” Eccles, who recently joined the team. The changes knocked for a loop in the community.
The organization brought Noah “jcStani” Smith from Pioneers and Sean “bang” Bezerra from TSM to the roster on loan as the replacements to stop its lose-streak.
Things are going better for Luminosity, in spite of the upsetting result against The Guard in the first week of VCT 2022 North America Stage 1 Challengers. The team’s new two players, Brandon “bdog” Sanders and Adam “mada” Pampuch, seem to have clicked with the rest of the roster and they’re getting better each week.
Ethan “Ethan” Arnold will be the leading actor for 100 Thieves as he undertook the in-game leader role, following the departure of ec1s. The North American needs to step up to carry his team for its first victory, otherwise 100 Thieves’ chance to qualify for the playoffs will drop sorely.
Bdog will take on a vital role as a duelist on Luminosity side. Since 100 Thieves added two new names to its roster, its in-game coordination will be easily broken by a Jett who is on a good day. Finishing the first two series with 219 ACS, bdog will be able to crush his opponents’ dreams this week.
Sentinels – OpTic Gaming
This week’s first series that we’re going to look at is Sentinels – OpTic. In the beginning of February, Envy rebranded as OpTic Gaming and the roster participated in the VCT 2022 North America Stage 1 Challengers with a new banner. After closing the first two weeks out with 1-1, the newcomer will test its limit against Sentinels.
Sentinels, on the other hand, had a great start in the event, winning its first two games against Knights and NRG Esports. Even though there wasn’t a pure domination in both games, these victories were crucial for Sentinels’ roster to regain its self-confidence after the disappointing end last year.

Even though there wasn’t a pure domination in both games, these victories were crucial for Sentinels’ roster to regain its self-confidence after the disappointing end last year.
Both teams have some hot names coming into this series. Tyson “TenZ” Ngo made enormous impacts with 1.33 Rating for Sentinels in the first two weeks of the occasion. On the opposite side, Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen, who generated 1.21 Rating so far, will be the key player for OpTic Gaming. Even though both teams’ performance metrics are close to each other, OpTic Gaming is one step ahead on their opponent.
VCT 2022 North America Stage 1 Challengers Week 3 will start on 26 February and air for three days, featuring six series.
