Veigarv2 – his take on pings and communications issues in LoL
After the recent ping adjustments from Patch 13.19, coach and content creator Veigarv2 explained his thoughts on why LoL is in a bad state.

Veigarv2 – Each day that goes by, LoL becomes softer and softer
Marius “Veigar v2” Aune is a position and strategic coach for Cloud9. But aside from his endeavors with the North American team, he often finds himself doing individual coaching and sharing his thoughts on patch changes and gameplay-related.
Following the recent ping changes in the newest LoL patch, Veigar v2 complained about the overall implications of such changes on his own Twitter. “Let’s say I’m jungling and I want to dive bot. I can no longer let my bot lane know that my Twisted Fate (TF) is about to hit level six; I rely on Twisted Fate to ping that. I also rely on my TF to know that I want him to join the bot dive. If I ping his level, the system thinks I’m toxic and won’t recognize it so I cannot communicate with my mid that I want to dive bot.”
He then went on to say that with the newest changes, he would have to type the game plan ahead while clearing the monster camps, which is not an efficient way of communicating: “Why do I have to do that? Because people are toxic. I’m of the opinion that if you get offended by someone pinging you and you’re incapable of muting then don’t play a competitive game.”
Veigar v2 also mentioned another potential issue that may arise with the teammates’ ultimate cooldowns. “I can ping it and see it myself but I cannot let my teammates know how much to wait,” he said. “I cannot ping my runes and stuff. I can’t do that anymore because someone is being toxic. This should be the last thing you fix. Think about when people are win trading the games, scripting in games and that’s not being worked on. And if it’s been worked on, you’re doing it wrong. Monitor high elo, remove these s**t changes, and let me ping and communicate with my team.”
Overall, it looks like these changes are doing more harm than good, but we’ll have to see how the community will react to these adjustments.
