Riot Games showcases Yasuo in newest Project L trailer
Days after releasing the update on Project L, the Riot devs are hyping up players by revealing their newest addition to the game roster, Yasuo, and a few other champions for the demo version that will be showcased at EVO 2023.

Yasuo lands on Project L
In the short trailer published on Youtube, the devs gave the community a first taste of what the champion may be like when it’s released. Yasuo is not only maintaining the blade master theme on Project L but he has been taken to a whole new level. His samurai-ish looks and fighting style are a lot closer to what you should expect out of the Ionian champion, and in the trailer, Yasuo uses his blade like a proper swordsman, cutting through his enemies and perfectly wielding the air and the wind.
“Yasuo is a master swordsman who manipulates the wind with his blade,” started Alex Jaffe, Lead champion designer of Project L. “On top of that, he can cancel in and out of a versatile stance, giving him tools for every situation. He can outplay with mixups, go to the air for really technical combos, play defense with his wind wall, or honestly just win neutral with huge normals,” he added.

Overall, Yasuo looks super fun to play and is one of the most skillful champions on the roster so far. But he’s not the only one that will be available to try at EVO 2023.
Following Riot’s announcement that the game would have a demo version at the event, Jaffe also added there will be three other champions waiting for fans to test out: Darius, Ekko, and Ahri.
“As a ruthless, axe-wielding general, Darius hits like a truck, owns the mid-range and he’s relentless on offense too,” said Jaffe. “Then there’s Ekko, the Boy who Shattered Time… With Ekko’s chronostrikes you can go in and then call for a do-over. He’s tough to whiff punish, and even tougher to block correctly…”
The last one is Ahri, the mage who can “channel the magic of the spirit realm”. Based on the description given by Jaffe, Ahri is a rush-down terror who controls the air and attacks from all angles while also using a unique resource, called foxfire, which she can blast toward enemies.

More champions will be coming in… but it will be another time
Jaffe added that while Jinx and Illaoi are also in the works, they won’t be available for the demo at EVO 2023. Regardless, the four champions should be more than enough to keep fans engaged for the time being: “Each champion has their own unique playstyle and identity, and when teamed up they can pull off some pretty wild sequences.”
Luckily for fans, Riot have also published a second video where they go over the basic controls for Project L, allowing players to pick up the game a bit faster and increase the fun. And while many of us, including me, won’t get to try it out, it’s definitely one of the most exciting games out there that will bring the LoL universe to new highs.
