Liquid and 100T good picks this weekend – LCS Spring Week 2 Predictions
Four teams had an unbeaten start to the new spring split of the LCS which means four teams also lost both their matches. How did Week 1 of the LCS Spring Split pan out? And what to expect from Week 2?
Liquid and 100 Thieves are looking like winners. Here is our analytical breakdown with predictions for the upcoming weekend.
Cloud9 vs Team Liquid
There are two standout fixtures from Week 2. First, on Saturday, Cloud9 will face LCS lock-in winners Liquid. It is a bit surprising but Cloud9 start as slight favorites in that one. Cloud9 found their form early, breaking down both their opponents with some of their typical aggression that has defined them in the last few splits. Berserker was sensational in the bottom lane with an average of 5 kills, 4 assists and no deaths.
Liquid split their matches down the middle, with a 1-1 record. Bjergsen didn’t find much offensive depth but also managed to stay solid defensively while Hans Sama settled with his new franchise in decent rhythm, producing 3.5 kills, 2 deaths and 4 assists at a KDA of 3.75 and a creep score of 353.
Liquid have one of the best rosters in this split. And if Bjergsen finds his best in team fights, then even an in-form Cloud9 team cannot stop this Liquid outfit. As a result, I’d be backing Liquid to start Week 2 with a bang.
Evil Geniuses vs 100Thieves
The other one to watch for in week 2 is Evil Geniuses encounter against 100 Thieves on Sunday. Evil Geniuses are threatening as one of the LCS’ best this season but they will have to be at their best against reigning LCS champions 100 Thieves, who have started with two wins in two matches. 100 Thieves will take plenty of confidence from their split-opening win against one of the best in the LCS in Team Liquid. Despite that result, I’m a bit surprised with these odds that put Evil Geniuses at x2.10 on Betway. Those are extremely compelling odds for one of the best in North America.
Danny had an exceptional lock-in phase in the bot lane for EG. He has begun well in the spring split as well with returns of 4 kills, 1.5 deaths and 3 assists at a KDA of 4.67 and a creep score of 387.5. Impact was stellar in the top lane. In fact, he produced the most kills for EG, with returns of 5 kills, 2.5 deaths and 2 assists at a KDA of 2.8. Those are atypically high returns for a top laner considering their role.
We then move to a couple of fairly reliable options for your betting slip. First, 100 Thieves should be far too strong for Immortals on Saturday in the first round of the new week. While odds are low at x1.15 for 100 Thieves, a strong option would be to add them to your bet slip and wait for the right parlay. We’ll get to that soon.
Liquid will not be pleased with their loss against 100 Thieves. I’m backing this Liquid team to have a fantastic season and replicate their success from the lock-in phase. To do that, they will have to start well. On Sunday, Liquid to beat FlyQuest is x1.30. Not too bad for a roster containing one of the LCS mid lane legends in Bjergsen, an in-form bot laner in Hans Sama, an LEC superstar in the top lane in Bwipo and one of the best in the jungle in Santorin. I would also bundle Liquid and 100 Thieves in a double for Week 2 from the LCS. Odds for a winning double is about x1.50 on Betway, which is quite reliable.
