LEC 2023 Season Finals – Teams and Schedule

Below are the six teams that have qualified for the 2023 LEC Season Finals (ordered by seeding):

  • #1 – G2 Esports
  • #2 – MAD Lions
  • #3 – Team BDS
  • #4 – XL Esports
  • #5 – Fnatic
  • #6 – SK Gaming

The LEC 2023 Summer Split saw G2 Esports reign supreme once again, dominating XL Esports in the final rematch after the latter nearly beat G2 in the playoffs upper bracket.

Despite the loss, however, XL showed great performances and have been the undisputed number two team in the LEC this split. The meta is favoring them but they are light years better than how they played in the first part of the season.

In third place, there is Team BDS, which has been probably the most consistent team in the LEC aside from G2. They’ve been a decent mid-pack team with occasional highs. That said, it feels like players have figured them out and they might not be able to repeat what they did in Spring.

MAD Lions, on the other hand, are the big question mark of this Season Finals. They had a poor summer split but still managed to get the #2 seed considering they won the Spring Split Championship. Given the lower sample of games, it’s really hard to know their value. The coaching staff, however, is known to make magical things happen so they might still be part of the run.

Fnatic and SK Gaming earned their spot in the season finals after the strong Summer Split, especially Fnatic. The roster changes with Trymbi coming in have brought good shotcalling and proactivity that was a bit missing from the previous lineups. That said, it feels like they still have far too many weird moments which raises doubts about their consistency.

Everything leading up to Worlds

For this year’s Worlds 2023, which will take place in Korea, the LEC is guaranteed three seeds as usual. Having said that, there might be a fourth one, which is decided with the Worlds Qualifying Series.

It’s a best-of-five series between the #4 seed from the LEC and the #4 seed from the LCS. The winner will take last place Worlds seed and head to the play-in stage, joining the minor regions to determine which two teams will head to the Swiss stage.

Starting this year, the LoL World Championship will have a new format and it will start on October 10, after the end of the Asian Games.
