There is one surprise and one favorite at the top of the LCS spring standings after six games played. FlyQuest is at the top of the standings in one of the highlights of the season so far while Team Liquid have built on their impressive start in the lock-in to give them company at the top of the table.
Let’s start with Liquid, who won their last five games to climb quickly to the top of the table. They are easily the most proficient roster in this LCS season and that has shown in the early part of the campaign. They are expected to cruise through their next two games this weekend too: against Golden Guardians on Saturday and Dignitas on Sunday.
Evil Geniuses on the prowl
There are a couple of other fixtures that catch the eye. On Saturday, Evil Geniuses will face FlyQuest in a blockbuster encounter between two of the better teams this season, on paper. Evil Geniuses have somewhat unfathomably lost three straight games to fall to 2-4 for the season, which puts them joint seventh on the LCS standings. They will, however, fancy their chances to return to winning ways by toppling the league leaders.
To do that, they will rely on Danny in the bot lane. He has produced middling returns of 3.5 kills, 2.17 deaths and 3.17 assists at a KDA of 3.08 and a creep score of 391.17. Danny is the only player to have averaged over three kills per map this season, which is a fairly big issue. On Betway, you will get odds of x1.50 on an Evil Geniuses win. Add Liquid to beat Golden Guardians to your bet slip, and you get combined odds of x1.87, which is quite compelling.
Evil Geniuses will then face Golden Guardians on Sunday. I’m backing both Liquid and Evil Geniuses to come away from this weekend with two wins apiece to help create a gap between the best and the rest.
Cloud9 vs 100Thieves is a real coin-toss
On Sunday, Cloud9 will face 100 Thieves in an even money matchup. Both of those teams have performed well so far, with identical season records of 4-2 to date. Both of them are jointly perched at third spot in the standings.
Cloud9 are always an interesting story because staying aggressive is their preferred modus operandi. They have received good production from bot laner Berserker this season. He nets 3.67 kills, 1.83 deaths and 4.17 assists per map at a KDA of 4.27 and a creep score of 318.83. Elsewhere, mid laner Fudge has found a way to stay efficient with returns of 2.33 kills, 2 deaths and 5.67 assists at a KDA of 4.
After some key departures, it will be interesting to see how 100 Thieves find able replacements for their stars. FBI has been in devastating form in the bottom lane with returns of 4.5 kills, 1.5 deaths and 8 assists per map at a KDA of 8.33 and a creep score of 301.5. Closer has come close to replicating that level of efficiency as a jungler. He has managed 3.33 kills, 1.33 deaths and 8.33 assists per map at a KDA of 8.75.
