Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage – C9 vs FNC – October 26, 09:00 CET

C9 and FNC are both on the verge of being eliminated at Worlds 2023. Both teams have been caught fighting against strong opponents like T1, LNG, and BLG, putting them into a tricky situation.

The two teams have had a few days to adjust themselves ahead of such an important series. For me, both teams have decent chances of going forward so it will likely come down to whoever makes the better preparation of this series.

The EU-NA rivalry keeps on

Based on the recent performances, I feel like FNC has a slightly higher rate of success. This is for two particular reasons. The first is that FNC has shown greater flexibility in their drafts and a good understanding of how to execute the various team compositions, even against a strong opponent like BLG.

The team was able to keep up until the 20th minute when they eventually lost in the teamfights. This is the thing FNC must work on if they want to have a chance of going through to the Knockout stage.

The second reason is that FNC seems to be stronger at utilizing the jungle-support synergy to make proactive plays on the map. C9 struggled a lot in that regard against T1. While the draft didn’t help, the NA team was unable to find ways to slow down the game and were dominated from start to finish.

Overall, however, I still think that FNC will have mistakes here and there, and C9 will be able to capitalize on them to close the gold lead or come back. The focus for me will be on the jungle matchup to see who can make things happen on the map and in the late stages of the game it will be down to the two ADCs to carry their squad to the finish line.

Prediction: C9 1 – 2 FNC
