Who are the Youngest and Oldest Fortnite Winners? FNCS Champions

We’ve just seen another year of competitive Fortnite wrap up at the Grand Championship, and there’s some clear trends with the FNCS champions. Fortnite is dominated by players on the lower end of the age scale. The youngest Fortnite winners often seem to dominate these events, but how old is too old for competitive success in the Battle Royale? While the game does have a heavy presence in the younger side of esports players, older Fortnite winners are out there too.

Fortnite esports is by no means an outlier when it comes to ages. Most esports tend to see younger players take victory more often than old. While it’s debateable how much age plays a factor in reflexes and mechanical skill, a lot of the major esports are dominated by the young. Who are the oldest Fortnite winners though, or the youngest Fortnite winners? Across four Chapters of FNCS events we’ve actually seen a wider range in age than you might think.

Who are the Youngest Fortnite Winners?

Fortnite’s a game which often makes headlines for its younger player base. In the title’s early days, news of orgs signing literal children wasn’t too uncommon. In terms of bigger success and wins at LANs though, the youngest Fortnite winners don’t skew quite as young. While players begin competing very early, they tend to reach at least young-adulthood before they take a big win.

Bugha’s World Cup win in 2019 came when he was 16 years old. While young, he’s not the youngest Fortnite winners. The most recent grand Royale event saw multiple people as young as 14 taking part. Mshx and Moneymaker both took part in this LAN at only 14 years old. As this was an event for winners throughout the year, they’re definitely on our younger side being the minimum age to compete. Although, Bugha reaching the heights of best Fortnite player in the world at 16 is impressive.

Even among the best Fortnite players there’s some really young players. Shelom took a huge 5th place finish at the Grand Royale, at only 15 years old. The player clearly still has room to grow as a player over the coming years, he might be able to hit that number 1 spot before he reaches 18.

Who are the Oldest Fortnite winners?

Those are the youngest Fortnite winners, but older players can still get a look in. At the most recent Global Championship, the oldest Fortnite winner was 22! Persa and Kylie were both 22 at the event. Most people probably wouldn’t count these two as all that old though. So have we seen anyone older at different events?

In the past, we saw a 51-year-old qualify for an FNCS tournament. Although, they didn’t win. Sync, an Australian Fortnite player, has managed to place very highly in FNCS tournaments at 26 years old too. Something that often has the player sarcastically calling himself one of the older pros. Most older players aren’t as heavily represented in the highest end of the game’s meta though.

While the Fortnite player base might skew a little younger, it’s not too uncommon for esports. Some genres like fighting games have more older players making waves, but for the most part younger esports players to be a bigger part of tournaments.
