However, for a lot of players, it’s possible to spend quite a lot of money on Fortnite thanks to the in-game currency V-Bucks. If you normally buy skins as and when they pop up in the Fortnite item shop, you’ll be getting a bit less for your cash soon with Epic announcing V-Buck price rises!
Along with making some wider layoffs, Epic Game is putting the price of the in-game currency up. The move is to reflect the growing costs associated with Fortnite’s new model of a creative platform. This will mean each and every new skin in Fortnite is more expansive than it was previously, as the real-world value of those V-Bucks goes down. Fortnite V-Buck Price Rises
Along with making more than 800 lay offs, Epic Games has announced they’re undertaking some V-Buck price rises. The real-world cost of the in-game currency will increase in most regions. This will take effect from October 27th. After that date, you’ll get fewer V-Bucks for your cash when purchasing them. This translates to fewer skins, or even Battle Passes for your purchase. However, the Battle Pass is less of a factor since it provides more V-Bucks back than it costs.
The reasoning behind Fortnite V-Buck Price rises is being explained by Epic as due to “economic factors”. They’ve cited inflation and currency fluctuations here. While inflation has definitely been a factor in recent months, these price increases aren’t exactly coming at a random time. Epic is making severe cutbacks right now. Getting a bit more cash out of the same skin purchases will likely help Epic’s bottom line a fair bit too.
Not every country is getting a V-buck price increase, but a lot are. They’ll be seeing an increase in the U.S, EU Area, Hungry, Japan, Norway, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, and the other areas which use the Dollar. This is after a V-Buck price rise in the UK, Canada, and Mexico quite recently.
What are the New Fortnite V-Buck Prices?
With the V-Bucks pricing going up, players might be wondering just what the new prices are. This is where the V-Buck prices will be once the increase comes into effect.
- 1,000 V-Bucks – $8.99/€8.99
- 2,800 V-Bucks – $22.99/€22.99
- 5,000 V-Bucks – $36.99/€36.99
- 13,500 – $89.99/€89.99
These V-Buck price rises will only affect the standard V-Buck purchases. It won’t be changing the Fortnite Crew prices. Although, we might eventually see the bundles of V-Bucks and skins go up in line with this too. This will essentially mean all Fortnite skins go up in price, the rarest FN skins and the most common, since the V-Bucks real value is higher.
The new Fortnite V-Bucks price rises are going to make everything a bit more expensive in-game. With Epic making widespread layoffs though it might be an unavoidable adjustment to account for changing economic conditions. A lot of Fortnite players likely won’t adjust their spending too much, but if prices continue to rise then player frustration could eventually start to hit Epic’s premium skin empire.
