A new Fortnite Season has arrived, with one of the weirdest and most overpowered loot pools we’ve ever seen. Players have their pick of tons of Mythics and other completely overpowered items, but what does this mean for Fortnite competitive? On the surface, it looks like a lot of these items are going to be particularly broken for Chapter 4 Season 4 competitive.

Fortnite is a particularly fluid game. Things change every week. This makes things tricky for competitive. Events like the Fortnite FNCS have huge prize pools and stakes, but sometimes players are using fairly untested items and map changes. The solution is often a different loot pool for competitive than normal Battle Royale and Zero Builds. Fortnite competitive is playing with an especially weird set of items and rules this season though. This is what’s changed and what you need to know about Fortnite esports in C4 S4.

Fortnite Competitive in Chapter 4 Season 4

Fortnite competitive in Chapter 4 Season 4 is going to be dominated by one event, the Fortnite Global Championship LAN. This is an end-of-year event where the top players from the rest of Chapter 4 are coming together for an international tournament. These events are the climax for a year of Fortnite.

The FNCS Fortnite Global Championship is the big event on the horizon for this season. However, there are more tournaments scheduled. These are the one-off events you can catch each week during Chapter 4 Season 4 competitive.

  • Mix Up Mondays
  • Solo Victory Cups
  • Duos Zero Build Victory Cups
  • Duos Cash Cups

Ranked Reset

One big change in recent seasons for Fortnite competitive has been the Ranked mode change from Arena. The season is finally switching over for this, turning into Season 1. Your rank will be moved around so make sure you jump back into Ranked mode to see where you’re placed this time and start earning the ranked rewards.

Scoring and Item Changes for Chapter 4 Season 4 Competitive

Fortnite’s scoring system for competitive has become a bit more fluid recently, offering different ways to score outside of placement and kills. These are the changes made with the new seasons to how you earn points.

  • Capturing a forecast tower now awards points
  • Capturing Rift Loot Island POI now awards points

In terms of the new items, Epic has held quite a few back from Fortnite competitive for the time being. This makes sense given how uneven the whole heisted mythic mechanic is this season. These are the items that are removed in Ranked from Battle Royale this season.

  • Kit’s Shockwave Launcher
  • Shockwave Grenades
  • Nitro Fang
  • On the Go Bag Reality Augment

All the other Mythics are in the game! So, we’ll see quite a few players with one-of-a-kind items in the Fortnite FNCS Global Championship event.

Mix Up Monday – New Fortnite Competitive Event

A new type of tournament is debuting for Chapter 4 Season 4 competitive, Mix Up Mondays. These are tournaments which will have a varied scoring system. Each one will change things up with a different format. This will allow competitive formats to reward some of the more diverse play styles that emerged in the game, rather than just being the standard competitive meta each time.
