Fortnite Adds Shield Breaker EMP and Sticky Grenade Launcher
The latest Fortnite season has gotten its first patch, well, a hotfix. Players logging in were taken by surprise and greeted by two new items, without a proper update getting pushed. The Sticky Grenade Launcher and the Shield Breaker EMP. Within the first few days of the new C4 S4 FN season, Epic has already launched a countermeasure to one of the most OP items. Plus, another grenade launcher for good measure.
Fortnite’s traditional grenades were vaulted a little while ago and not missed. These two new items are a bit more interesting. Each has a unique mechanic. In the case of the shield Breaker EMP, it’s a valuable addition to the balance out the meta. Why is the Shield Breaker EMP such a good addition though?

Shield Breaker EMP
The Shield Breaker EMP is a new type of grenade which generates a different effect than just an explosion. On the base level, it’s an item which breaks the shields of opponents doing minor damage but the Shield Breaker EMP’s electronic interruption is much more useful.
It generates an AoE field which disrupts all electronics in the area. It shuts down the turrets, motion sensors, and more. Once shot down, you can just knock all turrets away. The Business Turrets are really fun but definitely a stronger part of the meta. The new Fortnite grenades basically neuter these! The main concern for players is going to be if they want to carry business turrets or Shield EMPS, as they’re both pretty effective in a loadout right now. Both are going to work well in upcoming tournaments like the FNCS World Championship.
Sticky Grenade Launcher
The Sticky Grenade Launcher is the second new item added in the hotfix. This is similar to the egg or grenade launcher. However, its grenades are sticky. They’ll attach to players and then explode. This is a fun item that’s definitely going to be useful in builds.
The latest update brings two cool items to the game. The Shield Breaker EMP particularly has really balanced things out. The game is already in its most fun state for a long time, but these new additions are making it look much stronger for Fortnite esports too.
