The FNCS Global Championship 2023 has begun. We’re well into the bracket stage for the finale of Chapter 4’s competitive events. This is the conclusion for 2023’s tournaments as a whole, with the biggest prize pools at stake and all the best Fortnite players in a single LAN. The FNCS Championship has a bit of a different format this year, but we’ve already seen a few players edge ahead.
Day 1 of the FNCS Championship saw the upper bracket stage take place. At stake in these 5 matches are a slot in Sunday’s Grand Finals. Players who finish in the top half of this bracket move on to the final day, whereas the bottom-ranking ones will have to compete in a lower bracket again tomorrow. So which players have taken the early lead in the FNCS Championship?
FNCS Championship Day 1
There were 5 different games played on the first day of the FNCS Global Championship 2023. Queasy and Veno took the early lead here, managing to grab the Victory Royale finish along with 7 more kills. This puts them at the very top of the FNCS leaderboard for Day 1, at least for an initial game. Their early lead did begin to slip though, when they finished 20th with just 2 kills on the second game.
The pair bounced back in their third and fourth games getting 6 kills then 7 kills, with a 9th and 4th place finish. While the last game saw a 35th finish and only 1 kill, their slot in the Finals was already secured. They didn’t manage to reach 1st on the Day 1 results though.
No, the Duo who have taken the early lead here has been Acord and Cold. The two players came in first with more than a 70-point lead! The Duo also won a Victory Royale but not until their third game, where they also grabbed 7 kills. In the first two games though they took a total of 9 kills with a second and 6th place finish in each.
Their fourth game in the FNCS Grand Championship saw another top 10 placement, this time 5th with 8 kills. Their final game saw the Duo only take 34th place, but they did manage to rack up 6 kills over the shorter time in the match.
These 2 Duos along with Reet and Ritual have definitely marked themselves out as dominant forces in the FNCS Championship. We’ll have to wait till Sunday and watch the FNCS Championship to see if they continue to dominate in the Grand Finals though.
