The WoW TBC Classic Arena Tournament series is back in 2022 with the first event of the season. Two regions and 16 teams will fight to become TBC Arena champions this weekend.

There is no doubt that WoW: The Burning Crusade Classic is having a lot of success, as it is the best expansion of all time for a lot of WoW players, yes, even better than Wrath of the Lich King. One of the essential features introduced in the expansion is the arena PVP system, where players can queue up and fight other players in the arena and gain rating points to obtain not only that sweet Gladiator title but also the unique seasonal mounts that come with it.

The tournament everyone was waiting for!

Since everyone was a huge fan of the classic tournament last year, it is no wonder that Blizzard is returning it this year. While everyone was hoping to spice things up with a 2v2 even or a 5v5 event, the format is going to be 3v3 as always since it is the most played format, after all. The event will feature 16 teams from Europe and North America to fight for the incredible prize of $100,000 USD.

The prizes will be distributed as follows:

• 1st: $17,000
• 2nd: $12,000
• 3rd: $8,000
• 4th: $5,000
• 5th/6th: $2,500
• 7th/8th: $1,500

If you haven’t had the time to play The Burning Crusade Classic yourself but are still hungry for some nostalgic action, you can catch the event live from February 18^th to 20^th on Youtube and Twitch. The broadcast will begin at 10:00 AM PT, and it will run until all of the games for the day are concluded.

Some notable WoW Arena pros are playing in this event as well. Josef “Chas” Stoianov the former Method player and Arena World Champion in 2019 is playing for Naixi Demon King. Over in NA, Marcel “Wealthyman” Rodriguez from Cloud9 and Brain from Method NA have formed a team called Surfs Up.

Both of the teams featuring pros have ended up in the Loser’s Bracket, and will have to fight their way uphill if they want to remain in the event.

Interview with the developer

During the event, we can also expect an interview from the WoW Classic Lead Software Engineer Brian Birmingham, which is quite exciting, as he will probably drop some hints and updates about WoW Classic. We are hoping to hear the reveal of the WOTLK Classic, but it is too soon as we did not even get the Zul’Aman patch or the Sunwell Plateau patch.
