The Western European scene has some of the strongest heavy hitters at the Bali Major 2023. From the International 11 (TI11) Champion, Tundra Esports, to Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators, which both held the top two finishes in two consecutive majors.
Needless to say, the WEU scene is thriving, especially since these teams are relatively new at Dota Pro Circuit 2023 (DPC 2023).
The Fourth Powerhouse Emerges
The Bali Major is Quest Esports’ first major debut and has already made quite the performance by making it into Upper Bracket Semifinals. In fact, all four WEU teams made it into the semifinals.
Before the Bali Major, Quest secured third place at the DPC 2023 WEU Tour 3, beating Team Liquid at fourth. Although Quest didn’t beat Gaimin and Tundra, it gave them a run for their money by forcing a full-blown best-of-three series.
Then, in the Bali Major Group Stage, Quest made sure they stole the spotlight by placing first in their group. And, in the playoffs, their first opponent was Team Aster, with the backing of Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan. SumaiL was ATF’s former teammate back at Nigma Galaxy, so it’s a sight for sore eyes to see the two players at each other’s neck at Bali Major.
We have to highlight Quest’s impressive drafting capabilities, opting for a last pick Slark offlane for ATF. It made quick work of Aster’s line-up, all thanks to Tony “No!ob” Assaf’s Puck stomping his middle lane. However, going up against Gaimin Gladiators next might eventually send them into lower bracket, it has already surpassed everyone’s expectations of a team this new.
Remember, Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf is the only member in Quest Esports with a TI and Major experience.
ATF and Quest Esports
ATF joined Quest merely a month ago, just in time for the DPC Tour 3. This was a surprise since Quest performed decently well last Tour, barely missing the tiebreaker to team OG to qualify for Berlin Major 2023.
Yet, they decided to get ATF onboard and completely shocked the competition. In fact, Aybek “TA2000” Tokayev, Quest’s hard carry player, even complimented ATF, claiming he’s the best teammate he has ever played with in terms of mentality. This contradicts his rumored toxic behaviour, which TA2000 debunked that he only does it in pubs.
Although Quest did well enough to secure 400 DPC points, they are still behind on the DPC Leaderboard rankings. And there’s only the twelfth place left up for grabs between BetBoom, Quest and Team Aster.
Regardless, Quest remains the undisputed strongest team behind only the big trio, which already qualified for TI12 via the DPC Leaderboards. Hence, Quest probably got their TI12 tickets in the bag.
