Gaimin vs Quest slugfest became the third longest official Dota 2 game
The first day of the Bali Major’s group stage was a spectacle, with the final series of the day between Gaimin Gladiators and Quest Esports setting new records. The two teams battled it out in a marathon series that lasted nearly three hours of in-game time, breaking Dota 2 records for game length and hero stats.
The first game of the series was a slugfest that lasted a whopping two hours and 16 minutes. This epic showdown broke into the top three longest Dota 2 games of all time, only slightly behind the 2:20:30 match between Team Empire and Vega Squadron. However, it’s unlikely any game will come close to the three-hour record set by Cloud9 and ScaryFaceZZZZZZZ.
Yesterday’s record surpassed the 3rd longest game between compLexity and Team Archon from the the Shanghai Major Americas Qualifier, standing at 131 minutes 15 seconds.

Gaimin Gladiators, led by Quinn, had a strong start to the Major despite a grueling 50+ hour travel time to Bali. Their first game against Quest Esports was a back-and-forth affair that ended in a narrow defeat for the Gladiators, primarily due to their buybacks being on cooldown.
- The Gladiators opted for a classic Bloodseeker lineup, featuring Dark Seer, Techies, Timbersaw, and Chen.
- Quest responded with a Medusa draft that included Underlord, Snapfire, Silencer, and Shadow Demon.
The game was a rollercoaster, with almost every hero wielding Divine Rapiers at one point or another. Even Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp, playing Chen for the Gladiators, transitioned to a carry build with his own Rapier, Assault Cuirass, Butterfly, and Swift Blink.
The game was a testament to the teams’ resilience and strategic prowess, with Gaimin Gladiators’ lack of reliable disables proving to be their Achilles heel. Quest capitalized on this, disabled the Gladiators for more than double the duration.
The Gladiators purchased a staggering 14 Divine Rapiers, killed Roshan 11 times, and bought back 42 times. However, their total dead time of 61 minutes compared to Quest’s 33 minutes was a significant factor in their defeat.
Seleri also broke a couple Chen records throughout the game as well. According to analyst Ben ‘Noxville’ Steenhuisen, Seleri’s Chen broke the most last hits and hero damage for all Chen games on record.
