OpTic Texas Finally Reveals New Roster For 2024 CDL Season

It was before January 2023 that rumours started circulating about Amer ‘Pred’ Zulbeari making his way over to OpTic Texas. It was said that he’d be securing a spot on the roster, but reportedly, releasing him from his contract would have been too expensive, and instead, Huke was signed to the team. Now, it seems we’ve come full circle, as it was announced just hours ago that Pred will indeed be joining OpTic Texas for the 2024 Call of Duty League season – and Kenny is coming along, too.

Moving into the all-new season, the team will be made up of Dashy, Shotzzy, Kenny, and Pred, and many are of the opinion that it’s a championship-grade squad. There’s certainly a lot of potential there, as all of these players have won chips (and half of them have won rings) in the past. They’re talented players – arguably some of the most talented players in the CDL right now – and hopefully, the sky is the limit come season start.

It’s no big secret that the 2023 season wasn’t kind to OpTic Texas.

Rostermania is Still Going Strong

It’s in full swing and many players are crossing back and forth between teams as we speak. There’s a constant push to assemble world-class rosters in the off-season because before we know it, Modern Warfare III will be here and we’ll be setting off to enjoy yet another year of the Call of Duty League.

Most recently, the likes of Boston Breach revealed their full roster – which will consist of SlasheR, rookie Snoopy, Capisdal, and last year’s champion (three times over), Priestahh. With a single change, Atlanta FaZe also locked its own roster in, bringing in Drazah in place of SlasheR – now that’s a terrifying team. Toronto Ultra shored up the single spot left open by Hicksy by picking up Envoy, the 2022 CDL world champion.

There are still plenty of teams with an uncertain future as we speak:

  • Florida Mutineers: Only ViJCl remains and there are ongoing rumours that the team is rebranding to the Miami Heretics
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas: Only Arcitys remains amongst fears that the team will be sold at some point in the coming weeks
  • Las Vegas Legion: The all-new Legion organisation stripped its roster at the end of the last season
  • Minnesota Rokkr: Minnesota Rokkr released its squad amidst layoffs across the organisation
  • London Royal Ravens: The entire team was released as rumours circulated of an organisation move to North Carolina
  • Seattle Surge: The entire squad, including managers and coaches, was released
  • LA Thieves: 100 Thieves wiped the board, removing the entire squad
  • New York Subliners: Bizarrely, NYSL removed Priestahh weeks after one of the best seasons on record, and that gap remains open

What’s Coming Next?

In the coming weeks, we’ll have a grand reveal of Modern Warfare III, as a live event is poised to take place in Call of Duty Warzone as an announcement of the next title in the series. At this point, we all know it’s Modern Warfare III, but it’s exciting to actually see what’s coming next. At present, we just know that Captain Price is involved, it’s a continuation of 2022’s Modern Warfare II, and Makarov is resurfacing.

There’s no confirmed start date for the Call of Duty League at the moment, but if it follows in the path of last year’s season, it’ll begin at the start of December. Like last year, that’ll be mere weeks after Modern Warfare III is released, meaning we’re all learning the game together.
