CODM World Championship 2023 Will Appear at DreamHack Atlanta
It has just been confirmed that this year’s Call of Duty Mobile World Championship will take place during DreamHack Atlanta, starting December 15th. It’s due to land at the Georgia World Congress Center and it’s going to feature – as always – a whopping $1 million prize pool. During the tournament, sixteen of the world’s greatest CODM teams will step up to the plate for their chance at lifting the coveted trophy.
Last year’s Call of Duty World Championship tournament was nested with the start of the Call of Duty League and COD Challengers. However, it has been rumoured that the next Call of Duty League season may not start until January 2024, and the Call of Duty League Championship has to still be played inside of 2023 – so it’s being left until the last minute possible.

Call of Duty Mobile Just Doesn’t Stop

Call of Duty Mobile is one of the most downloaded mobile games in the history of technology – which is helped by its free-to-play operating model, of course. It is, by numbers alone, the most popular Call of Duty game in history, bringing together elements from all the Call of Duty games before it and fusing them with original content. Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan of the game, but I’ve dabbled in CODM from time and time and have always had a positive experience.
In one statement, Sam Braithwaite, the VP of Mobile Game Ecosystems at ESL FACEIT Group, the organisers behind DreamHack Atlanta, said:
‘Together with Activision, the Snapdragon Pro Series is building pipelines where the phones in players’ pockets are their tickets to competing on the biggest stages in mobile esports.’
In an echo of that sentiment, Jeff Gullet, the Head of Mobile at Activision, spoke similarly:
‘This is a critical moment for some of the world’s best squads, and we’re excited to be able to showcase the peak of mobile competition to a diverse audience of diehard mobile fans and casual festival attendees.’
It’s not the first time that we’ve seen a major esports tournament like this run parallel with a gaming festival. It’s not the first time this year, in fact. There were several top-tier tournaments that ran alongside Gamers8 in Riyadh, which boasted one of the biggest collective prize pools in esports history. Later this month, the Apex Legends Global Series comes to a head in Birmingham, England alongside the Insomnia 71 gaming festival, too.
