Warzone esports had a watershed year in 2021 . The game rose to new heights with considerably bigger prizes handed out. The game is about to get its first big tournament of 2022 now. The Code Red Warzone duos tournament has been detailed this week. This is the first major Warzone event of the new year. It carries a $25,000 prize pool along with an extra pool of $5,000. This is a decent prize for Warzone and we’re going to be seeing some of the top streamers and best CoD pros in competition against each other.
Code Red Warzone Duos Tournament
The Code Red Warzone Duos tournament is going to be kicking off on January 5th. The event is part of Code Red organized by BoomTV. They host Warzone tournaments along with Valorant and other events. The entire tournament is going to be taking place over a single day. However, there are loads of matches going down on that one day. The format of the event means that we can expect it to run a bit long.
This event is going to be a kill-race tournament rather than a traditional match of Warzone. Duos will be up against each other in a bracket. They enter into the same lobby as a Duo in the Quads playlist. It will be played in the Vanguard Royale playlist instead of the normal one. Vanguard weapons will be active. However, the planes are not tournament legal. While others can use them in the game, competitors can’t do so in these matches.

The team that gets the most eliminations will win. This is going to be held in a double-elimination bracket, so losing teams will drop down to the loser’s bracket instead of being eliminated straight away. The matches in the bracket are going to be played in best of 1 for the initial rounds. Following this though, it will become best of 3. This is how the prize pool is going to work
- 1st – $10,000
- 2nd – $6,000
- 3rd – $4,000
- Bounties – $5,000
The top three teams all get decent payouts from the tournament. However, the bounties are going to provide a nice side pool at the Code Red Warzone Duos tournament too.
Who’s Playing at the Tournament?
The event is going to feature half male and half female captains. The full roster for the event hasn’t been released yet. However, these are some of the participants already announced:
