Be prepared for a spooky season ahead – Activision has revealed the next content window in Call of Duty Season 06, and it has been dubbed ‘The Haunting’. In a sizeable update, Activision announced everything coming in Season 06 of Call of Duty, including the special Halloween-themed event – The Haunting. It’s all in preparation for Modern Warfare III’s Zombies experience, it seems – which was itself revealed just days ago.
There’s plenty of content coming with the Call of Duty Season 06 update, including new maps, reskins, weapons, Operators, and much more. There will be a bunch of licensed crossovers this season, ranging from Spawn (and a heap of associated skins) to Diablo’s Lilith, and from Skeletor to Ash Williams. It’s a veritable feast of content and it all kicks off on September 27th.
Call of Duty Season 06 is The Final MWII Season
It’s the last major content update for 2022’s Modern Warfare II ahead of the launch of Modern Warfare III. It starts on September 27th and it’ll run all the way through to the launch of Modern Warfare III on November 10th, but there’s plenty to see and do between then and now. For instance, on October 5th, the Call of Duty NEXT will reveal the future of the Call of Duty League, the biggest esports tournament in the scene.
So, what exactly is coming in Call of Duty’s Season 06 update to make it one of the biggest drops ever?
Firstly, when the update drops on September 27th, players will get access to four new maps – La Casa, Koro Village, King, and Fight. It’s a solid mix of maps, but there are also changes coming to existing maps – both El Asilo and Embassy will take on spooky Halloween reskins. On that note, some standard game modes will also soak up the creepy nature of this update, with ‘Haunting’ variations of some of the most popular modes being introduced.
There’s a wide array of rewards to unlock this month, an all-new battle pass, the ‘Final Prestige’ level will be made available, and there are four new weapons coming:
- TR-76 Geist Assault Rifle
- ISO 9mm SMG
- Dual Kamas Melee
- DOOM Chainsaw Melee

What’s Happening in The Haunting?
Call of Duty Season 06 will play host to The Haunting, a now-legendary annual event in the Call of Duty space that has been running for years – and it’s different every time. All throughout the next few weeks, players will see twists on their favourite maps, modes, and even equipment. For a while, decoy grenades will induce chilling hallucinations in characters, for example. There will also be a range of horror-themed Operators making their way into the fight, including:
- Spawn – the headline Operator unlocked by completing the battle pass (and his human variant, Al Simmons)
- Creepy Clown – a skin for Fender
- Violator – a skin for Konig
- Disruptor – a skin for Horangi
- Soul Crusher – a skin for Vega
- Skeletor
- Ash Williams
- Alucard
The Haunting’s core event will kick off on October 17th, and Operation Nightmare will enter full effect. This will occur mainly in Al Mazrah, but there will be horror-themed variants of Vondel available to explore as well. It promises to be a fantastic few weeks for Call of Duty fans, and what’s more, it all culminates in the release of the next generation of Call of Duty on November 10th.
