Beta Maps Confirmed For Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty
October 3, 2023
Grant Taylor-Hill
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s beta will start in just a few days – on October 6th, to be precise. Today, Activision confirmed the spread of maps that’ll be available to play in the beta, and they’re some fan-favourite examples, fortunately. It’s impossible to not pick a fan-favourite map from the suite being made available in Modern Warfare 3, though – they’re all remastered Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps, after all.
For PlayStation players, the Modern Warfare 3 beta will be unlocked from October 6th – those on Xbox and PC platforms will need to wait an entire week on top of that. It’s not the first time we’ve seen that type of timed exclusivity in the Call of Duty world, and it will genuinely drive some people to go out and buy a PlayStation 5. That’s how serious the expectations are around Modern Warfare 3.
What Maps Are Coming in the Beta?
In the Modern Warfare 3 beta, players will get access to a decent selection of maps. It’s assumed that there will be a mix of modes made available in a ‘Mosh Pit’ format – which could include the likes of Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint, among others. Here are the maps that’ll be present in the rotation during the Modern Warfare 3 beta:
- Favela
- Skidrow
- Estate
- Highrise (from the second weekend)
- Rust
It’s a nice taster for players both new and old – but will the older generation finally have the edge? After all, these are maps that they were playing some fourteen years ago, and muscle memory might kick in. It’s a great selection, though – there are maps there that are built for snipers, while others favour SMG or AR players. There’s something rural and something urban, and there’s a good mix of large, medium, and small maps.
It should be more than enough to give players a great overview of what to expect when Modern Warfare 3 is released on November 10th.

How To Unlock Extra Content for COD
It’s not expected that any progress gained through the beta will carry over into the full game, so you’re going to lose out there. However, there are ways that you can earn a little extra content by participating in other events. For instance, on October 5th, COD NEXT will take place – it’s the showcase that’s going to reveal the immediate future of Call of Duty. For watching that on Twitch or YouTube, you’ll be eligible to receive some top-tier rewards that can be carried over from Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 3.
It’s not extra content, but a short while ago, Activision also published the multiplayer trailer for Modern Warfare 3. As we said, it’s not extra content, but it’s definitely a wonder to behold, and it’ll give you a brilliant look at what’s coming when the beta goes live in just a couple of days.
